Stage 10 – The last pictures from the workshop

Well we have reached the end of this journey & you can see the reclaimed wooden kitchen table & chairs which have been waxed , polished and buffed and now are awaiting delivery.

Watch this space over the next couple of weeks for the furniture arriving at ‘The Three Chimneys Restaurant’ on the Isle of Skye to see it set up in situ ready for the first lucky dinner guests.

Stage 9 – Branding of the Table & Waxing

Hello All, here is the next stage & the order is complete.

Here you can see the branding the edge of the kitchen table and now being waxed.

We always hand wax the furniture in a clear wax which brings out the true natural beauty and character of the reclaimed wood and you get to see all the natural contrasts of colour and texture.

Stage 8 – The Chairs are being finished

In the images you can see our work force making the making , fitting & securing the seat pads onto the frame of the chairs .

Stage 7 – The chairs are being assembled

In this latest offering from Eat Sleep Live you can see the reclaimed wood chairs part of Michael Smiths kitchen table order being assembled .

All our chunky chairs made from reclaimed wood are durable and robust. The chairs are handmade locally in Nottingham and sit perfectly with our chunky tables. Our dining chairs and tables ooze character and will complement the dining room at the Three Chimneys restaurant and of any home.

Stage 6 – The Chairs

With the table well underway it is time to start with the chairs in Stage 6 of the journey of Michael Smiths reclaimed wood kitchen table.

As with all our wood furniture we have to start with preparing the components. Once we have the vertical components of the chairs have been machined they go on to the sanding department which you can see below.

A busy week this week with the 3 stages till delivery all coming in quick succession so watch this space.

Stage 5 – Michaels kitchen table assembled for the first time

Stage 5 has arrived - In this stage we see Michaels kitchen table assembled for the first time . You will also see the quality fixings we use on the legs and the use of the traditional alphabet stamps we use to match the legs to the table.

As with all our furniture the table goes through a final quality check prior to starting the waxing. We pride ourselves on the quality of all our reclaimed wooden furniture which we make from local british reclaimed materials & using our highly skilled local craftsmen each piece of furniture we produce exudes character, quality & history from every grain.

Stage 4 – Final Glue of Table Top, Course & Detailed Fine Sanding & Completing the Table Top

Here we are again & things are moving wonderfully well toward Stage 4 of Michael Smiths Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Table - where you will be able to see the final glue of table top, the course & detailed fine sanding of table top, attaching underframe to complete the table top being down in the Eat Sleep Live workshop in Nottingham.

Stage 3 – Making of the Underframe & Legs

Hello again and welcome back to all the followers of our project to make Michael Smiths kitchen table .

It has been a busy few days here at Eat,Sleep,Live but here we are ready with Stage 3 – The making of the underframe & legs .

As you can see the reclaimed wood table frame & legs are being sanded and assembled now ready for the next stage of the final glueing , sanding of the table top, and attaching under frame to complete the table top.

Stage 2 of Michael Smiths Kitchen Table

Here we are again and ready with Stage 2 of Michael Smiths Kitchen Table -

You can see our handsome workforce preparing the table by firstly cutting the reclaimed wood beams down to size width & length wise using our crosscut & circular saws.

Once stacked neatly (just how we like it) its onto the clamping stage where we glue the table top in 3 separate pieces ready for plaining the underneath nice and flat.

We follow this process for all 3 parts of the kitchen table top before glueing them all together to make up the final table top.
