There has been lots of talk this week about the Chinese New Year, and why not its a wonderful celebration. But while the excitement of the year of the sheep has been unfolding we have missed another celebration of feathered proportions.  Now this is not something I was aware of until yesterday but as soon as I read about it I knew it was my inspiration for today's piece.  So what is this event that captured my imagination with such zest?  National Bird Box Week.  Now before you start with the puzzled faces let me enlighten you.  Bird nests or boxes are incredibly creative, so much so you feel as though you are browsing Rightmove for a home. What is National Bird Box Week? Running from the 14 - 21 February, the week is aimed at encouraging our feathered friends to visit our gardens.  Due to the increasing decline of natural habitats many of our much loved species, such as skylarks and woodpeckers, are sadly in danger.  Wildlife is such an essential part of our gardens that we should nurture it to grow in any way we can. From apartments to mansions the humble bird house has turned from a necessity to a work of art.  Discover the Housing Market for Birds with this collection of Bird Houses with the WOW Factor Traditional The traditional looking bird houses may have vintage charm but these beautiful nesting boxes add warmth and character with their pastel tones.
