The Hollywood of Interiors - Art Deco

Posted by Mark Godsell-Fletcher on

One of my favourite interior styles is art deco, the opulence and drama of the era seem to explode onto the furnishings.  I love the contrasts of blacks and mirrors and the use of  shapes and textiles, it was certainly not a time for minimalists.  It is not surprising that one of the main influences was the glitz and glamour of early Hollywood.  Art Deco was certainly not just for the elite as mass production was already in play which meant every home could incorporate the style. Art Deco is everywhere at the moment, with mirrored furniture, shell and nature motifs, shiny fabrics, geometric shapes and a touch of theatrical contrasts.  Here we pay homage to the period with a modern day art deco bedroom. You can not get more Hollywood than this enchanting bed with a melodramatic headboard and subdued colour palette.  Although the price is very aspirational, the Art Deco influence is obvious.
