The Ultimate Guide to Nottingham for the Stylish Student

Posted by Mark Godsell-Fletcher on

With Nottingham being home to more than just one central university it’s not surprising that it’s abundance of students are embracing all that the city has to offer. The larger of the Universities based in Nottingham, aptly called, The University of Nottingham is proud of its reputation holding the title of being within the top 1% of universities in the world. Offering a mixture of undergraduate and postgraduate courses over a thousand of its students were also privileged to study or work abroad last year. So what makes for a stylish student? Well, with a mix of academic strength, well-travelled students and excellent facilities I think that the students of Nottingham might just have what it takes to become the UK’s stylish students. With an increase of these flourishing students populating our city I have created a guide to their new habitat of Nottingham. Getting around Public transport has lost its reputation for not being “cool” as now students of Nottingham are spoilt with free Wi-Fi and buses running until 3am. You will never waste time waiting for a bus again with a free mobile app offering real-time departure information covering more than 50 routes across the city, linking its students to every campus and accommodation, not to mention the bars, restaurants and shops! Shopping Your student loan may have only just hit your bank yet your favourite shop has already announced a sale! Mixing budget brands with designer labels you will see your fellow students perusing the rails at the intu Victoria Centre, The Exchange and even in Bridlesmith Gate. [caption id="attachment_6060" align="aligncenter" width="620"]The Exchange The Exchange[/caption] Embracing Nottingham’s reputation for independent shops, vintage fashion and designer brands you’ll have to tear yourself away back to your primary focus of learning! Shopping isn’t all about clothes and shoes though, if you’re looking to furnish your next student house of even your own home after graduating our showroom and interiors blog is on hand to be your style guide. Nightlife Of course there is always your usual student bar but today’s students aren’t happy with a pint where your shoes stick to the floor, they are now spilling out in Nottingham’s most trendy and swanky bars. Nottingham night-life is famously eclectic with a mix of entertainment, music and enjoyment for all its residents. [caption id="attachment_6062" align="aligncenter" width="620"]Nottingham Playhouse Nottingham Playhouse[/caption] Enjoy an evening of culture at Nottingham Playhouse, rock out to your favourite act at the Capital FM Arena or join your friends for a fun filled river cruise on the Nottingham Princess. Restaurants Nottingham’s restaurants cater for your every mood from a quick snack between lectures to a full cooked breakfast after a weekend of partying, or revising! Renowned for its international cuisine Nottingham has a newly-emerging ‘curry quarter’, or if you’d prefer something more simple there are also plenty of Tapas or rustic French dining places to eat 7 days a week. Be sure to look out for many food and drink festivals which take place throughout the year, including the Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival. [caption id="attachment_6063" align="aligncenter" width="620"]Eat Sleep Live Eat Sleep Live Showroom[/caption] Being a part of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter many students are often allured here as it’s a one-stop-shop for art, theatre and entertainment as either part of their course or socially with their friends. It’s here where passion meets fashion and students are treated to experience their adopted home’s heritage and culture. It’s so lovely to see design students discover Eat Sleep Live and our workshop for the first time, on their second visit they may even bring a friend or two.
